Literature Text
We fell in love with each other,
and then we fell apart.
We fell for other people,
then back into each other's arms.
We fell over ourselves in trying
to break each other's hearts,
and fell into debt attempting
to try and look the part.
But of all the many mistakes we made,
the greatest of all was merely this:
to fall for society's movie myths,
and think that the fallen could ever enjoy
the beauty and innocence
of girl, meets boy.
and then we fell apart.
We fell for other people,
then back into each other's arms.
We fell over ourselves in trying
to break each other's hearts,
and fell into debt attempting
to try and look the part.
But of all the many mistakes we made,
the greatest of all was merely this:
to fall for society's movie myths,
and think that the fallen could ever enjoy
the beauty and innocence
of girl, meets boy.
Literature
The End
life is fast and death is quick
hearts slow down and minds play tricks
bodies fade and souls lose hope
reaching for the past, hands grope
searching for what can't be grasped
words will weaken into gasps
broken thoughts and shattered dreams
bursting from us at the seams
fear takes hold, time slips away
we grow sicker day by day
the pain won't stop, the hurt stays strong
it's been inside us all along
but will it end when we all die?
and in the ground our carnage lies?
Literature
Invidious
Jealousy does
not suit you.
A leech, feeding
on my soul just
to find the words
you cannot say
in my presence;
but behind my
back you glow
with arrogance.
You shine with
a false sense
of brilliance
that will never
captivate anything
more than a
dead audience.

Welcome to the place
Where ancient roots are aroused.
Welcome to a savage place
Where all hope is doused.
The fields where heroes kill
And the weaker die.
Strings attached to puppets
Controlled by a great lie.
This place represents
Humanity's greatest defects.
It is cruel and brutal
On all of its subjects.
Men are measured in sweat
And blood.
The dead are adorned
With medals and mud.
The machines growl,
Enslaved to their masters.
Metal and gunpowder
Orchestrate this disaster.
The media lies
And the news delivers.
The politicians build bridges
Where there aren't any rivers.
Not a person is spared
From this place's evil

This poem has taken me a very long time to write because it took me a very long time to face up to.
Antoine de Saint Exupery once said that love is not gazing at each other, but looking outwards in the same direction, and I may have lost myself in your eyes, but honestly and truly, we were always pulling in opposite directions.
And that. That is life, I suppose.
Please feel free to give any critique about the actual writing or the form or whatever, but please, leave my heart alone. It's had enough.

I hope your heart feels better soon.
